At that point I had just one major pass left ahead of me: Hochtor (2504 m). Contrary to drivers, I did not have to pay for getting on the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse (High Alpine Road). However, before I reached Hochtor I took a turn and cycled for a few kilometres to the crowded Franz Josefs Hohe visitors' centre (2362 m) in order to look more closely at the Grossglockner and the Pasterze glacier.
The climb to Hochtor was by no means easy. What was surprising, I did not eventually find myself at the top of the pass, but rather... under the pass – in a tunnel.
On my way down, I stopped by at the Edelweispitze (2577 m) to cherish a divine panoramic view.
Another downhill ride: more than 30 km. I overtook several coaches, their passengers staring at me with their eyes wide open. Bearing in mind the accident that occurred a month before, I tried to be cautious, but I was still doing 75 km/h.
A swim in the Ziller See gave me a boost of energy that lasted as far as the German border.
