Suceava
We get to Suceava at 6 pm, cycling along the main road to the city centre. A sticker on a post next to McDonald's leads us to Villa Alice at Simion Florea Marian Street (www.villaalice.ro). A room with two single beds costs RON 100. It has got a fridge, free Wi-Fi and a balcony, so we can hang out the washing. Other hotel amenities include a sauna and a restaurant. And the most important thing – they speak English here!

We are hungry so we start the city tour at "La Fitze" pizzeria. Apart from pasta, I was tempted by a drink named "The Women's Death" (30 ml Malibu, 30 ml white rum, 150 ml pineapple juice and grenadine syrup). I give the recipe because the drink was delicious!

Suceava is full of Orthodox churches and monasteries. Undoubtedly, the most important one is the Church of St John the New, housing a sarcophagus with the relics of the patron saint of Bukovina. The remains of the Princely Court overlook the city. This place used to be the residence of several Moldavian magnates who ruled the entire state. Full of greenery, the old part of Suceava is interesting and has a nice atmosphere. A lot of parks, fountains and buildings from the beginning of the 19th century. As I have been constantly tired and had a headache for the past few days, we decide to stay overnight. We have enough time to visit the Church of St George, the Church of St John the Baptist, the Church of the Resurrection, the Prefecture Hall and Zamca Monastic Complex.

Our 6 am wake-up is unnecessary because it is raining. We set the alarm clock to go off in an hour. After breakfast, we put on the cycling clothes. It starts raining again – well, that is just great! And we are facing a whole day of uphill cycling! I fall asleep again while Igor browses the Internet and waits to wake me up as soon as the rain ceases. Unfortunately, it keeps raining. It is almost noon and we have to check out. We decide to stay for one more night though – wind and rain are the enemies of cycling tourists. In the afternoon, wearing waterproof jackets, we go out to eat something and do shopping for the rest of the day. I eat "ciorba de burta" – mild tripe soup with bell pepper, thickened with flour and sour cream. It is served with garlic sauce and sour cream for seasoning. Yummy! Next to the bistro there is a big market – we buy delicious, sweet grapes, tomatoes and finally, a watermelon! On the way back, we also buy bread, cheese, wine and tea. In the room, we chat through Skype with the guys from our company. A thunderstorm breaks out. For the remaining part of the day, we either sleep or taste the goods we bought, hoping that it will not rain tomorrow.
