On every expedition, a well-equipped medicine kit is a necessity. It should contain wound care products, powder, a remedy for haemorrhoids, some painkillers and cold pills, drugs for diarrhoea and upset stomach (especially needed in tropical countries), multivitamins, Autan spray, sunscreen with high UV protection (at least SPF 30 for tropical countries) and D-Panthenol.
I advise to consult a medical specialist – especially that some drugs are available only by prescription. When we want to travel outside Europe, visiting a doctor is a MUST and it should be arranged a few months before departure. Check in advance if you need to get vaccinated or if there are any threats in your destination area, e.g. malaria. You will receive all the information at your Local Disease Control Centre.
